So last week I posted about a 2008 BMW 335i that I was interested in.
Fast-forward a week, and my R is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and I’m about to get a PPI on the Bimmer. So, I’m beginning to think I’m crazy. Because....
I’m about to purchase a:
- Used
- 108,000 Mile
- 3-Owner
- Modded
- BMW
- That’s RWD (I live in Colorado)
- Sight unseen (it’s in Georgia)
The color...many people hate it - I love it. It’s one of the main reasons I want it. Now, upon this car passing a PPI at a very reputable BMW indy repair shop, would I be certifiably crazy/stupid to purchase this thing?

Totally do it. There's one in the same color combo with the same wheels near me for like $13k with a little over 100k on it.

108,000 Mile s
I mean, on an old Camry this would be good but...
How much do they want for this?

I’m pretty sure I can get him to $12,500.

Don’t do it unless you have TONS of money stashed away for repairs. Own a 335i. Would not buy again. There is a good reason people are dumping these cars around when the warranty expires.

Is it lowered?

For me, the best car is white. But here - if you’re happy with the color and don’t give a shit about resale value - do it. And would this color be a barrier to a resale? Who the fuck knows. And just push the price down as far as you can. Then you have a cushion.
And, in the end, cars are cash sinks - you will somehow wind up spending more money than you should. But you get to drive something you care about driving.

I drive my M3 all year long also in Colorado, I use all season tires but avoid deep snow driving (it’s also extremely perilous on ice - I want to go to snow tires but we don’t get all that much snow on the front range).
PPI is a great start. If you’ve driven the same 335 platform and enjoy it i’d say pull the trigger if the money is right and the inspection is clean. I just hit 120k on my E46 M3 and with meticulous maintenance it still rips at the track and is reliable on the road (just did a 5 hour mountain road trip to Pagosa a Springs a few weeks back).
6mt and that color, nice combo. Good luck with the decision and let us know which way you go!
